Hello world!

Hola,

So, this is my first post here. I have been thinking about setting up a blog for a while now. I believe I have done enough ‘thinking’ (around 5-6 years) and I should ‘do’ something about it now! Not because I have so much to share with the world, but for the following reasons:

  1. Document learnings – I have read numerous articles, solved a handful of (tech) challenges, read few books, watched a gazillion video tutorials in the last year alone! I don’t remember roughly 70 % of all that! I recognize that I live in a world of information overload and I tend to retain only a very small portion of what I consume. So, what I want to do with this blog is to document some of it for future reference. I also want to entertain the possibility of someone else finding my documentation useful.
  2. Store (and share) code snippets and small projects – Ever since I started my career as a Linux system administrator in mid-2011, I have written a good number of small/medium-sized scripts in bash/python. Most of them solved one specific problem. I think it’s beneficial to document these for my own use and for others to save time. I intent to store those in GitLab.
  3. Improve my technical communication skills – writing in particular. I’ve been rusty for a while.
  4. Post reviews on things I experience in life – places, books, movies, series, courses, apps, websites, services, etc. – you get the idea, right? I know I know, I can do it on Facebook or Twitter or million other platforms that are purpose-built for this. Nah! I like it here – my personal space for expressing myself!

This article is more like a note-to-self. I want to be reminded why I started doing this. The plan is to publish at least one article every week.

Godspeed!
